An announcement from Antherion Dureaux, Keeper el Lei of the Holy Order of the Light™.
Praise be!
The Year 2008 was another good year for the guild. The growth in the major realms was outstanding, and through the bumps along the way, the guild has gotten stronger in terms of camaraderie, friendship, and game knowledge and power. The guild was also able to get a foothold in the 2 communities that it has been a part of, and even though there were detractors, and pasaways in and outside of the family, we have stood our ground. With this being said, I am and will always proud to say that I'm a member of HolyOrder™.
We have finally been able to participate in LU Live, and that's a hurdle that the guild has been trying to overcome. So, to all the organizers, and to everyone that helped, give yourselves a pat on the back. Even if we lost some money, both due to low sales, and due to "missing" amounts, we can say that we were very successful. There are still pillows and mugs left, mind you, so just approach your chambers on how you can purchase some. Feel free to tell your friends too! And this year, we will try again!
With each passing year comes changes -- Changes in plans, changes in structure, and changes in people. Change is inevitable, and we always have to think of the things that we have to change in order to better ourselves for the sake of our comrades, our brothers and sisters, and for the communities around us. Those that our new to our organization, the Divine Light Bearers, and those that are just a year into the guild, would probably not know what it's been through. Or you/they probably just know about your realms.
HolyOrder™ is a community-centric guild. We have always been that way since 2003, and we still hope to stay that way. When Perfect World came, a proposal was made to try and be hardcore, and try to compete. The decision to take on this endeavor was made by all the Keepers, and chambers across the different realms, and I can say that it was an experience both good and bad. The triumph, the new people, the fame, the friends, the politics, the controversies... They were all for the benefit of the guild, and they are all part and parcel of being in a MMORPG, and community. All the experiences that we gained from PW will forever have an impact on the guild, and the way we approach other guilds, and with this I would like to congratulate our PW contingent, both past and present for handling things quite well. Also, defending our title was a feat fashionably overtaken.
The RF contingent has ever been solid. The members handling it now are the members that have been with the guild from the start. Some have left due to RL needs -- mostly work, but those that are still there are those that can be considered loyal. Having had the opportunity to work with all of them, I can say that the guild has evolved into one solid unit, having one voice, almost one mind, and share the same ideals. Even if the guild in RF is not as successful in terms of game accomplishments, I can consider the guild to be as successful as PW in terms of community involvement. The ideals, policies, and positive outlook in terms of camaraderie and friendship that we have is what we share with the other players and guilds, and RF contingent has done a pretty good job.
With every person that goes through the guild, and whether they've stayed or not, we have always tried to instill in them our discipline and our ideals. This is the stance that the guild has been known for ever since. It's not our success in the battlefield that's what we are known for because that comes and goes; it's our success in instilling our ideals of good gaming which will have a lasting effect in the communities that we become a part of.
This being said, the Circle of Keepers have decided on the plan for the next realm that the guild will be participating in -- Rohan Philippines. The guild will take the role and direction that the RF Online contingent has taken. With regards to the competition in-game, in terms of Township Battles or Castle Sieges, we will join but only up to a certain extent. As much as we "enjoyed" the politics of Perfect World, we will try to steer clear of it in Rohan. This direction is proven to strengthen the bond between the members of the guild, and can also improve the relationship of the guild with the other guilds within the community. The growth of the guild in terms of membership has been a welcome sight, and we will always welcome new members who would like to join us even if we're not out to become famous and triumphant in the game.
Again, a well-deserved pat-on-the-back and thumbs-up for the guild for the year 2008! Let's strive to accomplish our goals for 2009, and continue being what we have always been -- a FAMILY.
Praises to all!
Signed,
